Please, more harp music! My granddaughter is a harpist-in-training, in her 2nd year at the University of North Texas. The UNT HarpBeats is their group of student harpists, 11 strong this year,, and their concerts are so enjoyable.
It's actually encouraging to hear a pro say she is a bad sight reader. In my days of trying to be a pianist, I couldn't sight read much at all, and it ended up discouraging me totally.
I'm better now but still avoid sight reading whenever possible. There are some challenges specific to harp - like the fact that your hands are up in the air without the aid of gravity to help you navigate where you are on the instrument when you are not looking at your hands and also the fact that there is a lot of extra information and advance placing and fingering decisions that need to be made on harp - I'm sure your grandaughter can attest to the challenges :-)
I'm glad you enjoyed the music - I will certainly post more!
Thanks for that explanation. It makes me understand my granddaughter's challenges better. (Also makes me realize that maybe the piano just wasn't right for me. I could never get the muscle memory working for finding the keys.)
I just wanted to say that although I grew up with the “no ketchup” rule on hotdogs, I have since evolved, both emotionally and culturally”, to understand that ketchup deserves the same degree of acceptance as mustard.
I could hear the harp music once I clicked on the substack website. LOVED IT!
Thank you for the kind words! Glad you were able to hear it and liked it 😊
