My oregano is taking over my garden here in the outskirts of Dallas. The thyme is fighting for space, and the chives gave up. I bought cilantro and basil seeds, but haven't ever gotten around to planting them -- or maybe I just couldn't get in the mood to do it.
Here the heat dome is a fact of life every summer, all summer long. Occasionally a thunder storm will break through, but mostly we have to do our own watering, and water here is getting scarce and expensive. My grandson recently moved to Michigan, and loves the climate there. Maybe I need to follow him!
Becky, thank you! I can always count on you to keep me lifted up and on track! I think I planted cilantro a grand total of once - it’s been seeding itself and returning every year for at least a decade 🤣
Anne, it's time once again to take inspiration from "the hubs" AKA John; knowing the he has slogged through many a difficult period of time yet contunued to turn out a daily comic strip.
Oh yes, I’ve watched John deal with this for over 20 years and even helped write comics for him during some of the worst. But there is more of a clear line between reality and fiction in his work. It’s not at all autobiographical. And also he’s producing work for an international media presence with millions of readers who have very specific ideas about what can and cannot be on the comics page. And he’s never expected to respond to events in real time given the nature of newspapers wanting everything 6 weeks before it runs. My stuff is more personal and immediate and I really feel the pull of posting in real time.
