My wife, Karen, is about your height but hates heels. She'd be barefoot all day if she could. What's nice about our relationship is that, although I'm a regular-sized man (maybe a skosh over 5-foot-10), she always marvels at how high I can reach and how I can see over a crowd that to her looks like a mass of shoulder blades. I suspect she's puffing up my ego a bit so I'll continue being useful to her, but it works. As long as I don't stand where I block her sunlight.
My hubby John is 6'2" so our height difference is quite a bit. Like your wife, I revel in his ability to reach high shelves :-) And I almost never miss him in a crowd. Also, I once played an outdoor wedding that took place in the late afternoon. The sun was at a terrible angle and shining straight into the bride's eyes as she prepared to say her vows. The tall groom shifted his position slightly to block out the sun for her. It was one of the most beautiful weddings I've ever played :-)
