Issue #7 Rhubarb And Some Advice
Food For Thought
On my “overbooked” blog I have a quote:
“I was raised with a fierce dedication to setting goals. I imagine this was to teach me discipline and help me maintain forward momentum. I’m sure it was not to create a constant sense of inadequacy. That was just a bonus.”
A lot of us were raised this way. With a huge emphasis on productivity and big goals and a sense that someday we will be called to account.
And productivity is good and goals are fine and accountability is important.
But, for me, focusing on that “day of reckoning” looming at the end of my life’s journey can cause me to lose sight of the here and now.
I’ve thought a lot more about this since Covid threw cold water on how I thought the world would look for the remainder of my lifetime.
So I’m trying to do a better job embodying the spirit of this poem.
In case you didn’t notice, there was a mention up there of a blog. As with Anne & God, I didn’t do much with it during Covid, but I’m trying to get back to it and there is some fun stuff in the archives. If you are at all curious and would like to take a peek – here is a link:

From The Garden
Remember those little red nubs in the photo from the March 23 Newsletter? Yes, they have already morphed into giant leaves of rhubarb. I wasn’t kidding when I said I think it consumes small animals. I should probably keep the dog away….
