Issue #43 Good Ideas With Bad Results And Artificial Stupidness
It seemed like a good idea at the time…
You know the frustration.
You’ve paid for ketchup.
These days you’ve paid, perhaps, quite a lot for the ketchup.
And you want all of it.
I mean every last drop.
None of this “Oh, I’ll just rinse this last little bit out of the bottle” business.
And you don’t want to stand it upside down and wait twenty minutes.
You want that last bit of ketchup RIGHT NOW.
And you remember someone telling you about centrifugal force and how, if you swing the bottle around and around – as though you are winding up for the most important pitch of the most important World Series ever – that every molecule of tomato-y goodness will be forced down into the cap.
This does, indeed, work.
But it is an extremely good idea to first check that said “cap”is totally screwed on.
Not just pretending to be.
And yes, my dogs were, in fact, a handy clean-up crew.
For the bits they could reach.
The cabinets and the walls were my problem.

Organizing Progress
I am gradually dealing with all the Christmas decorations and this week got around to taking down and organizing the garlands I had over doorways.
These are such a pain to put up and take down that I have been known to leave them up well past the holidays.
As in, cough, all year long.
As in, cough cough, during Covid, 4 years straight.
I mean, what’s the point of taking them down when A) you are short and don’t look up often and B you haven’t had anyone over to visit - actually inside the house rather than on the socially distanced patio - for 3 of those years.
But this year I got myself together and took them down and got even smarter in that I took a nice picture showing what decorations I added and used “markup” to remind me where each one goes next year.
My storage tip for any of you who have these garlands is this: Take out any loose decorations and store those separately. Then attach a nice long twisty tie to the end of each garland that you can then wrap around a closet rod or coat hanger. This way you can hang them up vertically rather than scrunching them into storage bags or bins where they become sad crooked tangled messes.
