#66 D.I.Y. And Pie
You plan and you plan.
You measure.
You draw diagrams.
You make lists.
You “overbuy”.
And yet.
It’s never enough.
Never enough wood, never enough primer, never enough paint, never enough brushes, never enough screws, nails, drill bits, caulk, glue, staples, sponges, paper towels…
You go back to your local D.I.Y. temple, be it Lowes, be it Menards, be it Home Depot or Ace.
You go again.
And again.
And again.
Each time you are absolutely positively completely thoroughly totally utterly certain that THIS is your last trip.
Really.
Really, really.
The very last one.
It isn’t.
The project in question is immaterial. The arc will be the same.
It is a law of nature that is beyond your control.
Because the universe likes messing with you.
Take a deep breath, grab your wallet and head on out.
Maybe you’ll get lucky.
Maybe this is truly it.
Nah.

Porch Progress
Aaaaand the roof is going on!
I’ve been very surprised how transparent the “smoky dark” panels are. The previous panels were fiberglass and semi-opaque which let in a lot of light and I was a wee bit worried the new panels would make the space quite dark. Not only are they not dark, they do a much better job filtering UV so I’m excited for the rest to go up!
Pie Time
It’s pie season! Lots of wonderful fruit available now - especially blueberries. I take a lot of homemade blueberry pies to potlucks in the summer and folks are always asking for my recipe - particularly the crust.
Here is a link to my Overbooked & Underpaid blog with my recipe and step by step instructions for a killer blueberry pie. (It’s too long and has too many pictures to include here in the newsletter which seems to have limits on such things :-). Also you don’t have to attempt a lattice crust if you don’t want to - a solid top crust tastes just as good!)
