#139 Getting It Together...
Short this week - I'm goofing off. Or perhaps self medicating...
There has been a lot of “coping” over the course of this wretched, wretched year.
Hours spent sloping off to do jigsaw puzzles to help relieve the stress?
Not so much.
I don’t take a lot of time off.
Partly because unproductive time is unpaid time.
But there’s also the little matter of struggling to accept deadline-free moments as an opportunity to be non-productive without feeling guilty about goofing off.
The holidays afford me a perfect excuse to push aside as many obligations as I can for a little while.
And do puzzles.
So I’m taking it.
Peace to you all and let’s try to revive optimism in January.

Speaking Of Puzzles…
Yes, Well…
This one took forever.
FOREVER.
Sadly, the missing pieces are most assuredly NOT under the couch, or the table, or anywhere else the dog could have hidden them.
Because the reality of assembling puzzles purchased at thrift stores is that they might, just might, be a teensy bit incomplete.
It was still worth it.

I did a lot of crosswords and jigsaw puzzles (both online) earlier this year while recovering from a busted ankle. I also did a lot of online solitaire and mah-jong. I still do a crossword or two every night, and solitaire, and a new game called Clues by Sam. Having to focus on something like that for a bit every day is probably good for the brain and certainly better than doom scrolling. 😁
I bought a 1,000-piece puzzle at a thrift store without paying any attention, got home, opened it, and it might have had 100 pieces in it. I like to listen to audio books, mostly mysteries, while I work puzzles -- my favorite staycation.
